Laser Training for International Students

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Each week we get several queries from potential students from all over the world. We love international students – to learn from them and allow them to learn from us and take knowledge about tattoo removal back to their home countries.

Several key issues for international students to be aware of:

1) Dallas is a cosmopolitan city in North Texas. You will have a lovely 3 or 4 days in a beautiful metropolitan area that combines fine shopping and arts with a taste of Texas. If you want to experience the cowboy side of the state, that’s available. If you’d rather shop at Niemen Marcus or a range of boutiques or attend a world-class symphony, Dallas has that, too.

2) New Look Laser Colleges uses medical lasers that are FDA-approved in the United States. Laws and regulations in your home country may vary. Some countries (especially those in Europe) approve certain devices and drugs sooner than they are approved in the US. Others may have not approved their use yet. We’ll help you navigate these uncertain waters if you would like assistance.

3) You’ll find instructors at our laser tattoo removal training program that are caring and knowledgeable. We are happy to answer questions before, during, and after your course. Part of an effective training program is a support network the extends beyond the course itself.

New Look Laser College’s laser

Students often call and ask us what laser we use for laser tattoo removal training. We are proud to use Astanza Laser’s Trinity and Duality tattoo removal lasers. These systems are both q-switched systems, with the Trinity being the only Nd:YAG and Ruby tattoo removal lasers available in the United States. The Duality is a very effective Nd:YAG system with the traditional 1064nm and 532nm wavelengths needed to remove most tattoos.

The Affinity QS and Medlite C6/RevLite are less capable machines, but reasonable effective at removing tattoos. They put the same amount of energy through the handpiece, use the same wavelengths produced in the same way, and are used exclusively for tattoo removal (and a few dermatological procedures for removing other kinds of pigment in the skin). The Medlite C6 does have a more attractive beam profile (top-hat/flat-top) compared to the Affinity QS (gaussian beam profile), but is somewhat cumbersome to operate.

Laser training with a laser focus

Why don’t we offer training laser hair removal, or microdermabrasion, or dozens of other procedures? Our students ask us these questions when they first start our course. By the end, they know the answer: focus facilitates expertise. New Look Laser College has instructors who are experts in one procedure – laser tattoo removal. That’s what they know, and that’s the procedure they love to perform. They’ve completed thousands of laser tattoo removal procedures, and they are excited to share their knowledge with their students.
